“Breaking an edge” is just when you take a square edge and do anything to it to make it not square. Either by smoothing it like you did or just a slight rounding or even a chamfer. Anything really. The cherry you chose looks perfect for the application. It has great figure. Did you round your edges with an orbital or belt sander? Something else?

It is curly cherry and does tend to chip explain what “breaking an edge” means I did a lot of prep time on the glue joints before actually glueing.
Thank thank you for the comments.

Nice job. The end result looks very organic. I was too nervous about breaking my edges that far on my boxes, but now I’ll definitely be trying it. Have you ever broken an edge that far with dovetail or box joints?
